Badejo-Okusanya Leads
Allegations of electoral irregularities are rocking the ongoing election of the Nigerian Bar Association.
NPO Reports that the election, which has three candidates jostling to succeed incumbent Afam Osigwe, Aare Muyiwa Akinboro, Mrs Badejo-Okusanya and Lateef Akangbe, all Senior Advocates of Nigeria, is taking place today, Saturday 18.
It was gathered that the portal through which members are voting online was hacked at some points after which an alternative portal was created.
Some members of the association who spoke to the NPO Reports on condition of anonymity said so many irregularities have dotted the exercise since its commencement today.
Meanwhile, some took to their social media handles to vent their frustration over the technical challenges experienced on the portal.

“This election is marred with unprecedented level of irregularities. Afam Osigwe, you are falling short of the expectation of Nigerian lawyers. Afam Osigwe, you have failed Nigerian lawyers.
“This election is marred with irregularities. Lawyers cannot vote. People are getting OTPs and they are not being verified. Votes are static, before you know it, votes increased automatically.” He said.
Musa also called the attention of the NBA to the official assigned to receive complaints, alleging that the official, when called, claimed he is not a staff of the association.
“And the supposed staff that they put his number there that we should call, one Adamu, you will call him and he will tell you that he is not a staff of NBA and have no business with NBA.
“What kind of African magic is this? Afam Osigwe what election is this?” Musa asked.
If lawyers’ election can be tempered with this manner, how much more circular politics in Nigeria. Is there hope for Nigerians?
