A car dealer has called out a TikTok influencer identified by her handle, Barbie Nelly, over alleged fake claim of being gifted a N85 million worth of car by her boyfriend in celebration of National Girlfriends’ Day.
The car dealers, in a video shared on X on Monday, recounted how the TikToker and her boyfriend visited to showroom to inspect a C300 2023 Mercedes Benz model.
They disclosed that the boyfriend who was simply identified as Destiny contacted their showroom that he wants to buy a car.
Destiny visited the showroom on Friday before returning with Barbie Nelly on Saturday which was girlfriends’ day.
While her boyfriend was negotiating with the car dealers, the TikToker recorded a video of herself in the car which she posted on her handle, announcing to her followers that her boyfriend gifted her the car.
‘Believe anything that you see on the internet at your own risk. This is the 2023 Mercedes Benz that one so-called Barbie Nelly posted on TikTok that she was gifted this car on girlfriend’s day just to pressure young girls out there.
‘I went online yesterday night only to see that one Barbie Nelly posted that she was gifted this C300 2023 model worth N85 million. You no even fear. They money no fear you.
‘All these small small children nowadays just pressuring themselves online. If you see the comments they were getting, ‘congratulations’. ‘let me go and work hard’. Work hard for wetin.
‘One young man reached out to me on Thursday that he wanted to buy a vehicle. He did not even tell me that it was for a lady. They came for inspection on Friday.
‘They saw the vehicle and he said he will come the next day to make payment but he will come with his girlfriend because he wants to gift the girlfriend this vehicle.
‘They came the next day which is Saturday August 1st. While we were negotiation on the vehicle, we did not know that this young lady was there making video content inside the car to post online.’ One of the car dealers said.
He disclosed that the car is still up for sales as the couple never purchased it.
The car dealer urged netizens who might have donated money to Barbie Nelly to demand their refund as he accused the TikToker of fraud.
‘They told us to hold on that they have sent the money. We kept on waiting we did not see the money. We later saw the post online around 8pm that she has been gifted the vehicle by her boyfriend for a car they have not even paid for.
‘I’m very sure some must have sent fuel money to the lady.
‘If you have sent any money to Barbie Nelly and Destiny claiming that they have brought this vehicle, go and collect your money back. Ask them for refund because this is pure scam.’ He said.
The car dealer’s business partner further disclosed receiving phone call from a friend and fellow car dealer who confirmed falling victim of the couple’s operation.
‘They will surely pay for this PR stunt. They are fund of doing this. She and her boyfriend also did this to another car dealer sometimes earlier this year or so.
‘The car dealer messaged me that he is aware of these people and their operations. you people should be aware of them.’ He said.
