Demands N500,000 Minimum Wage Payment to Workers

The 2027 African Action Congress, AAC, Presidential Candidate and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has on Wednesday led other activists and other members of the #TakeItBack Movement in a protest against economic hardship and corruption in Abuja.
Sowore and the protesters took to the streets of the Federal Capital Territory, demanding the President Bola Tinubu vacation from the presidency seat as they decried the economic hardship across the country.
The protest also extended to Lagos, Port Harcourt, and other parts of the country.
Videos from the protest shared on X on Wednesday showed the protesters ‘Tinubu must go’ which intensified when they spotted a billboard banner bearing the image of the president and his Vice, Kashim Shettima.
Addressing newsmen at the protest ground, Sowore highlighted the demands of the protesters which include the increase of minimum wage to N500,000.
He also called for the release of jailed leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
‘When the people are ready, barb wire will not stop us. The police and army will even join.
‘We have number of demands we must reiterate here. It includes that Nigerian workers must be paid N500,000 per month as their minimum wage.
‘We have also asked that they release Nnamdi Kanu from unjust and unlawful detention.
‘They should discontinue all sort of trials whether it is cybercrime, treason trials against activists and Nigerians who are raising their voices against bad governance in this country.’ He said.
Sowore also reiterated the protesters demand for Tinubu’s vacation of the presidency seat as he urged Nigerians to join the movement.
‘Mostly importantly, to announce that Tinubu’s tenure is over. Tinubu must go. We have our colleagues in Lagos, Ibadan, Port-Harcourt and different places who are also taking same action today.
‘This is just the beginning of the series of actions we will be taking. I will urge you where ever you are in Nigeria to join us to bring about a new era and new order in this country. We are tired of hunger, starvation, corruption and incompetence.
‘We are ready and willing to liberate our country regardless of what the bozos are doing at the back. They can’t save Tinubu.’ He said.
