Mixed reactions have trailed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s freezing of the Osun State Government’s account.
NPO Reported that the EFCC had earlier today written to the First Bank’s Managing Director, placing a “Post No Debit (PND)” status on the domiciliary account opened with the bank which prevents withdrawals and other debit transactions from the account.
The governor demanded explanation from the commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, over the reason behind the development.
‘We will therefore, not accept a situation where federal agencies trample on the constitutional rights of subnational governments. This is a threat to our democracy.
‘If we all keep quiet and allow this illegality, very soon, whatever is left of our democracy will be fully eroded.
‘All I ask is for the EFCC chairman to explain to the good people of Osun State and to Nigerians in general, why he froze Osun State Government Account, and show proof to support whatever reason, he presents.’ He said.
Meanwhile, Adeleke’s outcry had sparked mixed reactions from netizens who were divided opinion over the development.
While some expressed solidarity with the governor, others slammed him over his support of the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu who they accused of being responsible for the freezing of the account and other political crisis in Osun.
‘I initially thought this man was smart. Keep licking Tinubu’s ass, your eyes will soon clear on Election Day. Only a fool would keep praising a man who withheld your local government funds for over a year despite a court order directing that they be released, yet you still went ahead and openly supported the same man. Davido won’t save you this time around because you chose to align yourself with a president that has brought poverty and hunger to the people you’re governing, all for the sake of your personal interest in securing a second term. You dined with the devil; now you should be prepared to face the consequences.’ @capellomovic
‘I have a problem with you sir, always calling out Oyetola, when you and I fully know it’s the President that is directly in charge of this menace. What are you actually afraid of? Why can’t you hold your ground like Aregbesola and face this demon troubling the peace of Osun?‘ @GodzLeads
‘When Tinubu sat in aso rock with camera before him and open his dirty mouth to shout ” All is fair in politics ” none of you people talk, even when the cardinal came out to say the statement is wrong, you all kept quiet. But now Tinubu is carrying our his statement, you are crying now …pẹ̀lẹ́ ooo….your eye go blur after the election …the election that its result had already been written’ @HephzibaBehulah
