The African Democratic Congress candidate for the ongoing 2026 Osun Governorship Election, Najeem Salaam, has lost the poll at his Local Government Area in Eijgbo to incumbent governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke.
Salaam suffered defeat at his LGA as ADC recorded 5,053 votes while Accord Party recorded 18,458.
The All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, came second at the Eijgbo LGA poll with a total of 16,195.
While Salaam had at the build-up to the election posed a force to reckon with on account of his candidacy’s support by the ADC National Secretary and former Osun governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the party however fell below the pecking order at the poll.
The ADC failed to gather up to 10,000 votes in any of the 30 local government areas in Osun state despite having a star-studded mega rally on the final day of campaign with the likes of the ADC 2027 Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; former Kogi lawmaker, Dino Melaye; and the ADC National Chairman, David Mark, amongst others in attendance.
The race had since been streamlined to a two-horse race between Accord Party and APC.
As it stands, Accord is coasting home victory with 19 LGAs, including Osogbo, won while APC holds 11 LGAs.
