Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared his re-election at the just concluded 2026 Osun Governorship Election, as a victory for democracy.
NPO Reported that Adeleke had on Sunday emerged winner of the gubernatorial election held in Osun yesterday.
The election, which was held across 30 local government areas of the state, witnessed voting by thousands of registered voters who turned out at polling units to elect their next governor.
The Accord Party candidate won the poll with a total 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 444,811 votes.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the declaration of his victory by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Adeleke described his win as victory for democracy and for Osun people.
He expressed his gratitude to the electorates for returning him elected.
‘I feel great. First of all, I thank God for that has happened today. It is a victory for Nigeria. It isa victory for democracy and for Osun people who stood by me.’ He said.
Adeleke further assured them of returning the favour by converting Osun into an industrial state.
‘This is Osun people saying thank you Mr. Governor.
‘I will pay back that thank you to make sure that my vision of turning Osun from civil servants’ state to industrial state.’ He said.
On his oppositions, the re-elected governor declared that there is no victor and no vanquished as he extended olive branch to Oyebamiji and other opponents.
He aslo disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has called to congratulate him over the victory.
‘This is no victor; no vanquish I want them to come over. I want Oyebamiji to call and congratulate me. Mr. President has called to congratulate me.’ Adeleke added.
