As INEC Declares Governor Re-Elected

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been re-elected as he emerged winner of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election.
Adeleke won the poll with a total vote of 511,067, defeated his closest rival and Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who recorded a total of 444,815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes.
Following an overnight collation of results across the 30 Local Government Areas in Osun, the total result of the election was announced around 7:20am on Sunday by the Independent National Electoral Commissions’, INEC, Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole.
The returning officer announced the total votes recorded by each political party after which he declared Adeleke winner of the poll.
‘That Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.’ Ogunwole announced.
