The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has debunked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of supporting his candidacy at the just concluded 2026 Osun Governorship Elecrion.
NPO earlier Reported that the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, had labelled Adeleke’s re-election as a collective victory as he claimed collaborating with the Accord Party to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on the reason behind the abysmal performance of the party at he poll which saw its candidate, Najeem Salaam, recorded 17,184 votes, Abdullahi claimed the ADC decided against running full scale campaign for Salaam in a bid to prevent splitting vote with Accord.
This, according to him, would have placed the APC at advantage.
Reacting to the ADC’s spokesperson’s claim, Adeleke, in a statement issued on its X handle on Tuesday evening, debunked paetnership with ADC.
The governor maintained that the party was never part of the rainbow collation thst supported his candidacy.
“I had no electoral deal or partnership with the ADC before, during, or after the governorship election.
“The credit for our victory goes to God Almighty and the good people of Osun State for their overwhelming support and re-election.
“For the sake of history, it is important to clarify that the ADC was never part of the rainbow coalition that canvassed, mobilised, and supported our campaign in the battle leading to last Saturday’s election.” He said.
Adeleke commended other opposition members who sacrificed and partnered with him to ensure his emergence as winner of the election.
He however reaffirmed hus commitment to unite Osun people irrespective of their political affiliation.
