Nollywood actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele, has come under public scrutiny over the celebration of her birthday amid funeral of veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Akindele had on Monday taken to her X handle to celebrate her 49th birthday with pictures from photoshoots taken ahead of the celebration.
The actress birthday however clashed with the funeral of Hassan who passed away on Sunday after prolonged battle with Stage Four cancer.
NPO Reported that Hassan died around 3pm yesterday, throwing the Nollywood industry into mourning.
Following his death, the funeral arraignment, in accordance with Islamic rites, was scheduled to hold on Monday.
The funeral was attended by several Nollywood stars led by the deceased actor’s closest friend, Yinka Quadri, and Jide Kosoko.
Also present at the event were Bolaji Amusan, Ireti Osayemi, Saheed Balogun, and Dele Odule amongst others.
While Akindele had yesterday paid tribute to the late actor in a post on her X handle, the actress was however absent at the funeral.
She would surface online with a post celebrating her birthday amid Hassan’s funeral.
This had sparked mixed reactions from netizens with some faulting the timing of the filmmaker’s post while other celebrated her.
