Commuters have been stranded as flooding engulfed parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following a heavy downpour on Tuesday night.
Lugbe-Airport Road was particularly affected, leaving several motorists and commuters stranded as floodwaters covered sections of the road.
As captured in videos circulating online, the flood also caused significant traffic buildup along the Airport Road corridor, with motorists struggling to pass through the flooded areas and others opting for alternative routes.
Areas particularly affected by the downpour include the Lugbe axis, Nile University Junction, Airport Junction and Wuye.
The flooding occurred about two weeks after the FCT Administration announced plans to remove structures obstructing waterways across the capital.
NPO Reported that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordered the immediate demolition of buildings constructed on water channels and right-of-way areas in Abuja.
