The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has rearrested two ex-convicts over alleged child trafficking.
The ex-convicts identified as Patrick Blessing and Rose were apprehended during another attempt to kidnap a child despite recently completing the four-month jail term conferred on them over same offense.
This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday by the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh.
According to Adeh, Blessing and Rose were last year arrested and arraigned to court over abduction of four children.
While the police were able to rescue two children, the other two were reportedly sold by the ex-convicts for N3 million.
‘In 2025, they were arrested for abducting four children. Two were twins and the other two were from different locations and different communities like Dwaiki and Lugbe.
‘Their names are Patrick Blessing and Rose. Blessing and Rose are from Benue and Enugu states. But they are residents of FCT.
‘In 2025, they were charged after we arrested them. We recovered two children. The two others were already sold out to some persons in Port Harcourt.
‘They sold those two children for N1.5 million each. They were eventually charged to court. They served their term for four months here in Kuje area. They went again, after serving their term, to abduct this little girl.’ Adeh said.
Explaining their mode of operation, the police spokesperson narrated how Blessing, a Christian who hails from Benue State, would disguise as a Muslim, using her jibab to abduct children sent on errand.
The ex-convict who was seen in the video statement wearing a brown jibab also used same tactic in the latest abduction involving a young girl.
‘One funny thing about these two people is that they will wear hijab. This is Blessing.
‘She is a Christian from Benue state. She wears hijab like this and use this hijab to abduct these children when they send them out on an errand.
‘When nobody is watching, they cover these children with hijab and takeoff to sell them outside FCT.’ Adeh said.
While being interrogated by the police spokesperson, Rose confessed introducing Blessing to the criminal act.
She disclosed that she has two kids with one of them now 17 years old.
The ex-convict expressed remorse over her deed as she admitted that her children will not be happy with her.
‘They will not be happy with me. I’m so sorry.’ She said.
On her part, Rose who was spared from spending her initial four months jail term behind the bars on account of a surgical operation disclosed that her husband recently divorced her over the crime she committed.
‘I can’t forgive myself. I’m sorry it won’t repeat itself again.
‘My children are in the village. Because of this incident, I had issues with my husband and he left.’ Rose said.
Meanwhile, Adeh disclosed that the ex-convicts will be arraigned to court as soon as the investigation into the case is concluded.
