Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria, Timipre Sylva, has said his ministry is in deep mourning.
Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, has said that his ministry is in deep mourning over the sudden death of the former Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo.
He died on Tuesday shortly after a reception held in his honour by the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari as part of Barkindo’s preparation for retirement from the OPEC.
He was 63.
The minister was also at the villa on Tuesday during a reception in honour of Barkindo.
“The Ministry of Petroleum Resources is thrown into mourning over the passing of H.E Muhammad Barkindo Sanusi. This is a great loss to Nigeria, to OPEC, to the Energy sector and most compassionately to his family which we have in our prayers and thoughts.
