Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said he has no preferred candidate for next year’s presidential election.
Obasanjo said his agenda is for the whole Nigeria with no religious or ethnic prejudices.
The former President spoke in Minna, Niger State when he visited former military head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar.
Obasanjo said his mission in Minna was to check on the health of “my brother” who has been indisposed.
He said he would have seen him in London where he was treated but explained that he missed Abubakar in London by the whiskers.
Obasajo told reporters, “I don’t have a special candidate, I have a national agenda.”
“I came to see my brother who has been a little indisposed. I had planned to visit him when he was still in London, but the day I arrived in London was the day he returned home.
“That is why I decided to come and see him at home. He is very special, so I had to come.
“If there is anyone who is indisposed, I will visit, and I am still strong.”
Obasanjo has been seeing many of the leading presidential candidates of the parties in the last few weeks.
Two weeks ago, he hosted the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Tinubu.
His vice president and currently candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar was also his guest while the candidate of the Labour Party, also visited him in his Abeokuta residence.
Obasanjo later seen in London holding meetings with the aggrieved Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Obi, and other gladiators of the PDP.
After the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, had spoken of what transpired between Tinubu and Obsanjo during his visit, Obasanjo had warned Tinubu’s loyalists not to credit to him what he did not say or promise.
Gbajabiamila, during a constituency meeting in Surulere, Lagos, had told his supporters that with what he heard from Obasanjo during the visit, victory was certain for the APC presidential candidate.
