The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has asked Governor Dapo Abiodun to suspend about 100 members of the party over alleged anti-party activities.
The party’s internal crisis took another dimension when the leaders of the APC in the local government wrote to the state chairman and the governor to expel the members.
Those listed for expulsion are members of the party believed to be loyal to former Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
This was disclosed in a letter dated August 26 and obtained by NPO Reports.
According to the letter, Adebiyi and other members of the party loyal to Amosun were discovered to have formed a list of delegates who participated in the primary election of African Democratic Party (ADC) in the State.
The Letter Read, “PETITION”
“NEED TO IMMEDIATELY SUSPEND THE FOLLOWING 100 INDIVIDUALS ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES AND COMMENCE THE PROCESS OF EXPELLING THEM FROM THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS”
“As a loyal party member and a victim of harassment and abuse from the leader of the purported APC fractional group in Ifo local Government Area in the person of Chief Derin Adebiyi, whose name appears as No1 on the attached African Democratic Congress (ADC) delegate list dated 23rd August 2022 according to the INEC Certified True Copy (CTC).
“I hereby strongly demand that the entire 100 persons on the list be suspended immediately from our great party, the All Progressives Congress(APC) for anti-party activities as enshrined in our party constitution. As the authentic Ogun State APC Chairman, I believe that you are empowered to suspend them on Monday the 29th of August 2022, and direct all the Ward Chairmen of the affected individuals to commence the process of expelling them at the ward level of their respective local governments.
“This request is made pursuant to the relevant sections of our party constitution to enable us to build a formidable APC from the Wards levels upwards without those individuals who are bent on undermining the authority of our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and our great party. The immediate expulsion of those individuals from our party will send a very strong message against impunity and anti-party activities no matter how highly place the individual is.
“With the 2023 general elections around the corner, the leadership of our party must act with courage and decisively to boost the confidence of loyal party members and the general public.
