Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have on Thursday arrested the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo.
NPO Reports learnt that Oluomo was arrested at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos Thursday morning.
It was not clear whether he was on his way out of the country or just returning.
Our correspondent confirmed that Oluomo is currently being grilled by officials of the commission over issues bordering on financial misconducts at the House of Assembly.
Sources said there have been petitions against Oluomo and after some invitations by the commission, the Speaker had ignored the EFCC.
“This is why he was picked this morning. The officials actually laid ambush for him,” the source said.
A source at the EFCC told NPO Reports this morning that his release or otherwise would depend on the level of cooperation that the Speaker demonstrates.
“He is currently being asked questions,” the source said.
