Former Inspector General of Police Musiliu Smith has resigned from
His position as the chairman of the Police Service Commission.
His resignation comes amidst smothering crisis over recruitment in the force which has seen him pitched with the Inspector General of Police Usman Baba Alkali.
Smith’s resignation however was said to be unconnected with the lingering issue over recruitment of new officers of the force.
He was said to have resigned on his own volition on health grounds.
Ikechukwu Ani, Commission’s spokesman while confirming the development said an official statement would be issued on Thursday.
