Former Senate President Bukola Saraki on Saturday broke his silence over his perceived silence over the crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
Saraki, who said he just returned from vacation abroad, said a lot of people have expressed worry over his silence overtime adding that he has been working underground.
The former Governor of Kwara State also contested the presidential primaries of the PDP which was won by its current flag bearer Atiku Abubakar.
Saraki stated on Saturday, “As I moved around the country in the past few days, I got the feeling that many people are concerned over my seeming silence on recent developments in our party, the PDP.
“My response is that there are times to speak and be heard and there are times when working silently behind the scene is more productive. This is such a time.”
Saraki said the PDP and Atiku Abubakar remain the best option for Nigerians in the 2023 polls.
Since the primaries, the Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has led an offensive against Atiku declaring there shall be no peace unless certain conditions are met.
Part of the conditions listed by Wike and his group within the party is the removal of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu.
Wike is joined in his campaigns by the likes of the Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde, Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom and others.
Atiku has said the removal of Ayu can only be done according to the constitution of the party.
