The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects over assault carried out on a teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Saturday.
It was gathered that Emmanuella’s father, Dr. Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, who is also a senior lecturer with the department of History and International Studies at the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), was captured on Friday October 21 brutalizing a 20 year-old girl who fought with his daughter over a man.
The girl, identified as Blessing Mathias, had sometime last week confronted Ayokhai’s daughter, Emmanuella Onawegie, for trying to ‘snatch’ her boyfriend.
Blessing had confronted Emmanuella in Lafia, Nasarawa State, after she found out that she had her boyfriend’s number and was chatting with him. She had asked her to delete the number but Emmanuella blatantly refused, hence the fight.
However, Emmanuella in company of her father, brother, and other family members, stormed Blessing’s home to brutalize her.
The video which surfaced online shows that they used sticks, wood, belt, to beat her before forcing her into their car.
They, thereafter, drove her deep into an unknown forest where the senior lecturer used a pair of scissors to tear her dress from her body.
They later pushed her out of the car, took photos of her and abandoned her in the forest.
The Nasarawa Police Command, has therefore confirmed the arrest, saying they have commenced investigations on the case.
“Sequel to the viral tweet of assault on a female teenager in Lafia, Nasarawa state, the Command swiftly commenced an investigation into the case.
“It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered.”
It was further stated that efforts are being put in place to arrest other suspects involved.
“Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at-large.”
