Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, on Thursday said his Osun counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola will still retain his seat.
Akeredolu said he is hopeful that Oyetola, whose petition is currently before the election petition tribunal, will regain victory. “Governors. You are quiet and when you take your decision, rely on Gboyega, he is very supportive.
“Osun State cannot forget you forever. By the grace of God, we will come back. God knows how he works. By the grace of God, we will come back to govern this State for a second term.
“I appreciate your invite once again. Calling me to come here is not an entitlement, there are many that can do it, I see it as a great honour.”
Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Senator Demola Adeleke, had defeated Oyetola in the July 16 election. The governor and his party have however approached the court to nullify the victory, claiming over-voting in some parts of the state. Just on Wednesday, the election tribunal compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission to produce the academic documents of Adeleke.
