The newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) of CrownHill University (CHU), Professor Jeleel Olasunkanmi Ojuade, has pledged to craft a winning formula to return the institution to winning ways.
Ojuade made the assertion at his inauguration as the Third Vice – Chancellor of CrownHill University (CHU), Eyenkorin, Ilorin on Wednesday.
He called for a total and wholesome change in ways of doing things in order to change the narratives, re-write history and alter the negative trajectory while urging stakeholders to embrace, celebrate and benefit from the change to come.
“You are all here today to be part of history and to witness history being made. Let me quickly draw your attention to the convergence of ‘Trinity’ on this unique day.
“Today, the third Vice – Chancellor is being inaugurated on the twenty – third day of January, two thousand, two hundred and twenty – third (permit my use of third which stands for three in this case).
“The convergence and dominance of figure three in today’s roman Calendar is not a co – incidence, it is a testament of divine approval of the Holy Trinity – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – in Christian Theological theory.
“It is a change we desire and a change to usher in the dawn of a new beginning and a fresh breath of air.
“As it is said, the only constant in life is Change. Let us all brace ourselves for the change that promises to revolutionarily tinker with things for the better, in all ramifications, in this University.

“Therefore, as stakeholders, we should apply our hearts and let our conscience be pricked as we generate answers even as we open yet another page in the annals of CrownHill University (CHU).” He said.
According to Ojuade, developing internationally acceptable and teachable curricular for academic programmes with appropriate benchmark is the objective of the founding founders of the institution.
“Visionary giants like Engr. Frank Morgan Akpan who conceived the idea of the University. Kudos to this great man of Vision as well as others who worked tirelessly to make the dream a reality.
“Realizing that Knowledge is Power, the founding fathers had a vision to build a world class University in teaching, learning, research, character development, integrity, probity, accountability and honesty in order to contribute meaningfully to nation building and national pride.
“Again, I commend the vision of our founding fathers for these lofty objectives clearly thought-out and well-articulated. Sound and great minds were at work, no doubts. Lofty objectives as crystallized clearly above must of necessity be backed by a good sense of mission unambiguously set out too.
“It didn’t come as a surprise, therefore, that the University has the mission to ‘vigorously promote teaching, research, and outreach attraction; retention of high calibre academic and non – teaching staff; provision of modern, integrated information and Communication Technology facilities; aggressive development of linkages with local and International Institutions; and partnership with Industries that will position the University as a Centre of Excellence’.
He also said in part; “It did not end there, our founding fathers, chose our core Values as: Integrity, Probity, Accountability, Excellence, and honesty.
“The question that readily comes to mind is how much of all the above are we really living. Are we really walking the talk? It’s a debate for another day; suffice to say it is a good food for our thought.
“Therefore, as stakeholders, we should apply our hearts and let our conscience be pricked as we generate answers even as we open yet another page in the annals of CrownHill University (CHU).
“Be the above as it may, the challenge really is in the moment. There is no better day than today, no better hour than now to collectively re – commit and re – dedicate ourselves to achieve the vision and mission of our founding fathers.
Acknowledging the tasks ahead of his administration, he stated that the cahllenges are daunting even in the best of times not to talk of the vulnerable period of socio-economic, political and educational tension being faced at the moment in the country.
“I am painfully aware that the challenges confronting us are daunting even in best of times talk less of this Vulnerable, Uncertain, Precarious and ‘ Interesting’ times of serious socio – economic, political and educational turmoil, our nation is going through at present.
“However, my firm belief is that, together, as a united and indivisible team, there is no challenge, no matter how gigantic, that we cannot confront, combat and conquer.
“No challenge can withstand a formidable team of determined and dedicated persons united by purpose. I am persuaded, it is doable but only with the cooperation, support and assistance of all stakeholders. No single individual can solely get it done.
He further assured that by taking up the appointment, he has entered a social contract with the university community and eco system to leave the university better than he met it. Ojuade also pledged to running an accountable administration and rule with the fear of God.
“These assurances are predicated on my unwavering belief that by taking up this appointment as exemplified by my assumption of office today, I have entered into a Social Contract with the University community and ecosystem to better their lot and leave the University better than I met it even if my tenure is for one day. And this aim I will pursue to the best of my abilities and using all within my power and means. I assure you all, I will give my all.”
Similarly, he urged all to cooperate with the new management and embrace a new culture of work ethic.
“Co -operate with new authority and management;
“Embrace a new culture of work ethic, innovation and creativity;
“Be ready to tighten your belts and sacrifice as we get out of this rut;
“Be prepared to go beyond the call of duty;
“Take ownership of the University, your roles and responsibilities;
“Be innovative, resourceful and creative;
“Self develop and grow
