Former Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has said there will be no Nigeria if the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is sworn in on May 29.
Ezeife, who is a statesman, said the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission of Tinubu as winner of the February 25 presidential election, is illegal.
“There will be no Tinubu administration and if there is Tinubu administration, there will be no Nigeria,” Ezeife said on a live programme on the Arise Television on Thursday.
Ezeife said the person who would be sworn in as the President of Nigeria will be the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.
“The law is clear even the declaration of Tinubu as the president-elect is illegal,” Ezeife said
He said the reality on the ground “is about following INEC’s actions.”
He said though Tinubu is president-elect “as declared by INEC”, he added ‘That truth cannot be.
“The question is assuming nothing happens and he is sworn in, how do I see him performing? He has many people whom, if he cannot do the work, he can delegate to some other people but I think we have seen enough of such and I think we have more than enough people in this country that we should get the right person to do well for us.
“In fact my advice is that trusted experts should be gathered to look at the election and propose solution to whatever problem is on the way.”
Tinubu was declared winner of the election defeating his opponents, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and 14 others.
He was awarded his Certificate of Return on Wednesday.
