A source at the EFCC told NPO Reports that the action of the DSS might not be unconnected with the existing rancour over the ownership of the building.
There is tension in Lagos as operatives of the Department of State Security on Tuesday invaded the Ikoyi office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The office, located on Awolowo Way, was invaded as early as 7am when the DSS officials arrived and blocked access into the office using a Armoured Personnel Carrier.
There was no fracas between operatives of the two agencies.
Both Wilson Uwujiaren and Peter Ifuanaya, spokesmen of the EFCC and DSS were not reachable for comments on the development.
A source at the EFCC told NPO Reports that the action of the DSS might not be unconnected with the existing rancour over the ownership of the building.
NPO Reports was told that the DSS used to occupy the building before the EFCC was granted the permission for the use of the facility many years back.
“I am sure this will be resolved but it is uncharitable for the DSS a fellow Federal Government agency to behave this way. We got there this morning only to find them blocking access. Not even appeals to allow our staff enter their offices was listened to,” the source said
