A media trainer and media advocate, Lekan Otufodunrin, has called on media houses to stop the awards to politicians and others.
Otufodunrin, a veteran journalist who has engaged in the training of younger personnel over the years, said the motive for the awards are so clear.
His intervention came as debates rage over proliferation of awards for governors and other political leaders in the country.
“Can media houses please stop all these Man of the Year, Governor of the Year and whatever of the year awards?
“The underling motives are obvious for all to see.”
Just on Sunday, Silverbird Television awarded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Man of the Year award.
Media houses that have held awards in the year include Vanguard, Daily Independent, Sun, New Telegraph, and a host of others.
