- As NAHCON Confirms 5 Dead
At least, 30 Pilgrims performing the ongoing Hajj in Saudi Arabia have been diagnosed with mental illness of various degrees.
This was just as five pilgrims were said to have died.
Head of the Medical Team of the National Hajj NAHCON, Usman Galadima, while making this known on Saturday, said those with mental illness are being managed and there are hopes they will be stable enough to perform the Hajj.
While two pilgrims from Osun and Kaduna each died, one was from Plateau.
“We have been managing them in our facilities. We have about four psychiatrists in the team. We have been managing them and all of them would likely perform hajj because they are a bit stable now.”
It was also learnt that there were two pregnancy miscarriages while one safe delivery was recorded.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that no fewer than 1.2 million pilgrims have arrived in the holy land of Makkah for the 2023 Hajj exercise.
