The Department of State Security has Tuesday morning brought the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Mr. Godwin Emefiele to the court.
Emefiele was brought before Emefiele was arraigned before vacation judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo.
Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Joseph Daudu, led other lawyers in the defence of Emefiele.
He however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
After the plea, Daudu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), told the court that his client has been in detention for weeks. He also told Justice Oweibo that the application for bail has been filed and served on the prosecution.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had ordered th suspension of Emefiele over different allegations.
He was subsequently arrested by operatives of the DSS and has been in custody since then.
Last week a Federal High Court ordered the DSS to either arraign him or release him.
