The family of first civilian Governor of Lagos State Alhaji Lateef Jakande, has demanded for the naming of the Lagos State University after the former Governor.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the Lateef Jakande Annual Memorial Lecture held in Lagos on Monday, the son of the former governor urged the Lagos State Government to cause a review of its naming of institutions.
He said after his father initiated the establishment of the institution, the then Governors of Ogun, late Bisi Onabanjo and their Edo state counterpart at the time, Prof Ambrose Ali, took the inspiration from Jakande to establish their state universities.
He said while both the old Edo State and Ogun state universities have been named after those who conceived them, that one established by Jakande remains Lagos State University.
