The presidential election petition tribunal on Wednesday upheld the victory of the President Bola Tinubu, saying he decisively won the February 25 poll.m
The tribunal said the opposition parties failed to prove claims of electoral malpractice against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in February’s disputed elections.
“This petition is hereby declared unmeritorious,” one of the judges said, as the tribunal rejected the opposition challenge to Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s win in the presidential election.
Tinubu won 37 percent of the vote, defeating Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
With the exception of the allegation that Obi was not qualified to contest the election, which the tribunal rejected, all other grounds were decided in favour of the respondent.
On the claim that elections were rigged in all parts of the country, the tribunal said the petitioner failed to attach proof.
On the allegation that Tinubu was not qualified to contest election on the grounds that he was convicted of drugs Business in the United States, the tribunal said there was no records to show that the APC candidate had any case for Which he was convicted.
