The police on Thursday exhumed the body of the late singer, Oladimeji Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly called Mohbad. However, amidst the tension that surrounded the removal of his body, residents claim that they saw fresh blood of the deceased claiming that the singer perhaps did not die before he was hurriedly buried.
Policemen and autopsy experts had arrived at the burial site of the late singer Thursday noon to remove the body. The scene had attracted huge crowd with many holding phones to record the session. Many of the residents were seen discussing the sight of fresh blood expressing surprise how the blood of a corpse buried more than a week could still be fresh. Mohbad died Tuesday September 12, and was buried the following day. Many had condemned the hurried burial arrangement saying it was suspicuious.
His father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, had said on Wednesday that Yoruba culture does not permit the delay of burial of any young person. The state government had called on the police to set up an investigation team to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.
Spokesman of the police in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, had confirmed the exhumation when he tweeted on his X handle, “Exhumation completed. Autopsy to commence.” The exhumation of the body marks the beginning of the coroners’ inquest requested by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN.
