Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, on Saturday escaped death alongside nine others who were aboard a private jet which crash-landed at the Ibadan airport.
It was learnt that the plane, which had left Abuja for Ibadan arrived safely only to skid off the runway after a forced landing.
The plane had reportedly overshot the runway entering into the nearby bush according to eyewitness accounts.
The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, was yet to issue any statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.
Tunji Oketunbi, who was contacted to react on behalf the Accident Bureau was yet to respond at the time of filing report.
A call placed to the telephone lines of Mr. Bolaji Tunji, Special Adviser to the Minister of Power on Media was not answered. A text message to his phone line was not responded to yet asa t 1pm on Saturday.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the State Fire Service, Yemi Adeyimika said, “Yes, it is true, Our men are on their way but I don’t have details now.
He said that his men arrived the scene of the incident on time but met other fire services from other agencies on ground.
What could have resulted in monumental loss was timely averted.
