Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun, has hinted that the state is very close to completion of its agro-cargo airport embarked upon some years ago.
Abiodun, in a tweet at the weekend, showed images of the new project with some iconic images showing the level of work done already.
The governor, his tweet, showed the Control Tower of the airport with the terminal building under construction.
“Our team has been making significant strides at the construction site of the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport project.
“In fact, we are now approaching the final stages of completing the terminal building and control tower, marking remarkable progress in the overall development of the airport facility,” he wrote on Saturday.
The agro international airport located at Iperu-Ilishan Road in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state, the commissioner for works in the state, Ade Akinsanya, had said in August this year that the project was 90% complete.
Speaking during the visit, he highlighted the accessibility of the area and the expected period for completion of agro international cargo airport.
He said, “The target for us to get this project ready is the end of the year. The runway is completely done, the control tower is about 90 per cent, and all the equipment needed is completely procured. In terms of capacity, there is enough room to grow, right now we have a warehouse under construction with a terminal building where you will be able to help us man. So things are taking shape and the governor is pushing us to get everything done by the end of the year.”
