Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara has kicked off the construction of 20,000 housing units in PortHarcourt, the state capital.
Friday’s event came amidst tension over the political crisis in the state which has pitted him with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Excited with the turnout at the event, Fubara said, “Yesterday’s moment was nothing short of exhilarating as we embarked on the journey to bring hope and homes to our cherished low-income earners with the kickoff of the 20,000 housing units project.
“We remain committed to protecting the interest of our people, ensuring their safety and securing not just homes but dreams and aspirations. Rivers State is not just a location, it’s a safe haven for investments.”
The event took place amidst a flurry of resignations by members of the executive council in the state over the crisis between him and Wike.
On Monday, the state House of Assembly was pulled down in what was seen as the most amazing part of the ongoing political crisis.
NPO Reports that no fewer than eight members of the cabinet said to be loyal to Wike have left the cabinet.
