Lagos State Transportation Management Agency (LASTMA) has arrested three suspected ‘One-chance’ armed robbers at Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.
The agency made this known in a statement issued by the Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, via their X handle (formerly called Twitter), with an attached video footage showing the suspects under interrogation.
According to the agency, the armed robbers were apprehended alongside their operational vehicle at Jubilee Bridge around Abule-Egba.
“…they were arrested by LASTMA personnel with their operational vehicle a painted ‘T4’ commercial bus (APP 406 YE) at the U-turn area of Abule-Egba.
“Immediately they were arrested, one of them escaped with a P.O.S machine before the arrival of the Police men.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that they were notorious ‘one-chance’ armed robbers terrorising the entire Abule-Egba and its environs.
“Investigation further revealed that they were being chased by members of the public after they noticed that a man was pushed down from their vehicle after robbing him of his valuables.” The statement read.
While a third syndicate reportedly escaped with dangerous weapons and a P.O.S machine, the apprehended suspects who they carry out their operations through an operational vehicle now recovered by the LASTMA officials.
As seen in the video, the suspects, who confessed to be the driver and conductor of the recovered vehicle, denied the usage of dangerous objects to rob their victims as against the allegation of the officials
