The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd.on Thursday assured Nigerians that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
NNPC’s statement came amidst worsening fuel situations at filling stations across the country.
There have been long queues at the few stations that sell while many are without the product.
The company’s statement, signed Chief Communication Officer Mr. Olufemi Soleye, said the company urged Nigerians to disregard what it called “unfounded rumours” just as it assured them that “there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price.”
The statement went further, “Motorists nationwide are advised against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country.”
