No fewer than 50 shops with goods worth millions of Naira have been destroyed after the explosions that rocked the Iju Ishaga a suburb of Lagos State late Tuesday night.
According to the National Emergency Management Agency the explosion was caused at Oguns street near Toyin Bus Stop along the Agbado Road on the border area with Ogun state.
“The gas explosion at Oguns Street, Balogun Busstop, Iju Ishaga, Lagos state on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, has been successfully controlled by the Lagos State Fire Service.
“The incident, which occurred at a gas company, resulted in the damage of approximately 50 shops in 2 rows,” NEMA Said
The Lagos state Fire and Rescue service had also confirmed that it’s men had put the fire under control while the area was becoming calm.
NPO Reported in the early hours of today that many residents were displaced as they had to seek shelter in neighboring areas overnight.
A resident who spoke with our correspondent on telephone said he had left his residence to stay over the night with another family in the Oko Oba area.
