The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has issue a stern warning to the officers of the Nigeria Police Force to desist from dropping his name for extortion or any other forms of illegal activities in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
The IGP on the official X handle of the Police said the caution is given so that officers will maintain the highest standards of integrity within the Police Force.
He expressed deep concern, emphasizing that such actions tarnish the reputation of his person and the Police Force, thereby eroding public trust.
Egbetokun stressed that any officer found guilty of leveraging on his name for fraudulent activities or extortion will face severe disciplinary measures.
He urged officers to uphold transparency and professionalism, reiterating that the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force is at stake if such is not checked.
The Police Boss implored the public to exercise caution and report any attempts to use his name for fraudulent activities or extortion, most especially in the investigation of cases.
He highlighted the crucial role of citizens in collaboration with the Police Force to maintain a high standard of conduct and eliminate corruption within the system.
The IGP, therefore, reassured the public of the Force’s commitment, under his watch, to root out misconduct and ensure accountability at all levels.
“I urged Nigerians to promptly report any incidents of extortion or fraudulent activity, you should also provide detailed information to facilitate thorough investigations that will lead to severe sanctions for erring officers.
