An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, ordered the detention in Ado-Ekiti Correctional centre of a 45-year-old man, Tajudeen Olaleye, over alleged murder.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being prosecuteď on a charge of murder.
The Police prosecutor, Yomi Osuolale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 10 in Otun-Ekiti.
He said that the defendant allegedly murdered one Mrs Rasaki Taibat during a fight
Osuolale said that there was a fight between the defendant and someone in the neighborhood, the deceased tried to mediate, but in the process, the defendant stabbed her with bottle, which led to her death.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Osuolale urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.
She adjourned the case till April 25 for mention.
