There was confusion at the Labour Party’s secretariat Abuja on Wednesday as leaders of the Nigerian Labour Congress broke into the office demanding the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.
It was a tense moment as the NLC leaders who had left their office in buses and cars made good the vow to storm the LP’s national secretariat and demand the exit of Abure.
The leadership of the NLC had equally directed a nationwide picketing of the LP’s offices to put pressure on Abure, who it accused of planning what it called an illegal convention.
NPO Reported earlier that the NLC leaders, led by the Chairman of the Political Commission, filed out of the NLC headquarters to make good the vow to see the exit of the National Chairman.
Recall that NLC President Joe Ajaero had been pithed against Abure whom they have accused of planning a secret convention of the party.
In what seems like a battle to claim the full ownership of the party, the NLC has opposed the leadership of LP led by Abure.
Abure’s camp in turn had asked Ajaero to resign as President of the NLC if he is so desirous of taking over the Labour Party.
