Nigerian Chess master, and founder, ‘Chess in Slums Africa’, Tunde Onakoya, has commenced his attempt to break the Guinness world record for the longest chess marathon without losing a game.
His set time is 58 hours and he is to beat the current record time of 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds which was set by Norwegians, Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad on November 11, 2018.
Recall that NPO reported that the chess master and coach first revealed his intentions on April 12, 2024.
The event began at around 10am on Wednesday 17th of April and is set to conclude by 8pm on Friday 19th of April in Times Square, New York City.
According to him, he is taking on this challenge “for the millions of children across Africa without access to education”.
