EFCC Grills Ex-Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika Over N8bn Fraudand Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja.
Sirika Sirika was said to have arrived at the Wuse FCT office of the commission after being invited by the EFCC to answer questions over transactions under his watch as the minister in charge of the ministry.
Specifically, sources said the former Minister is to provide answers to questions bordering on the Nigeria Air project which many said promised so much but delivered nothing.
NPO Reports that Sirika had launched the Nigeria Air project but was later discovered that the ministry had only engaged in a wet lease with a foreign airline. Air Nigeria was targeted to be a flag carrier of Nigeria.
The name and logo of the airline was unveiled at the Farnborough Air Show in the United Kingdom in July 2018, and was expected to begin operations from 29 May 2023, after it received its first Boeing 737-800 aircraft on 26 May 2023.
Since the unveiling in May last year, the airline has remained inactive.
As at the time of filing this report, EFCC’s spokesman , Dele Oyewale was yet to respond to NPO Reports inquiry on whether Sirika surrendered himself or was arrested.
