You Gave The Residents Of Mende Villa 2 Hours To Pack Out Without Prior Notice
Singer, Yemi Alade, has joined in the campaigns against the Lagos State Government over the demolition of some structures in the Mende Villa in Maryland area of the state.
NPO Reported that the state bulldozers had moved in to demolish some structures alleged to have contravened the Lagos state environmental laws.
Alade, who shared a video where she complained about the exercise, said in a text she also posted saying, “You Gave The Residents Of Mende Villa 2 Hours To Pack Out Without Prior Notice! Go Through Your Records And Start Alerting People Who Bought Land Legally! Prompt Them Years Ahead Of Your Intended Demolition! Or Tell Buyers Before Collecting Their Money!”
Commissioner for Environment and Water Sanitation, Tokunbo Wahab, had earlier countered those accusing the government of wickedness that the government also removed those erring parts of structures that stand in the way of free flow of water. He said earlier on Monday, “We are not demolishing any property, the Ministry is only removing contravening structures obstructing the free flow of rainwater which has over the years caused massive flooding in Lagos State
@followlasg as provided for in the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017. This exercise will be done across as the ministry is putting so much effort into deflooding many areas.
