Two persons have been confirmed dead in the Abula Pan Lekki area of Lagos after an explosion rocked a gas retail shop in the area.
The incident was said to have occurred Tuesday night. Apart two people who reportedly died, an unspecified number of people had been injured and taken to hospitals for medical attention.
Spokesman of the Lagos command of the Nigeria Police, Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a post on Wednesday, “It is just a week and we have recorded another gas explosion at a gas retail shop, this time in Ibeju-Lekki.
“Sadly, two persons died, three persons sustained injuries and four shops got razed.
“Let us prevent avoidable deaths. Let us be safety-conscious at all times!” Incidents of gas explosions have been re-occurring in Lagos in recent times with some of them fatal.
Two months ago, a similar incident sent residents scampering for safety in the Toyin Bus stop, Iju a surburb of Lagos.
