The organised labour has yet again rejected the proposed minimum wage of N54,000 Naira by the Federal Government.
President Bola Tinubu had inaugurated a 37-member Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage to come up with a new minimum wage ahead of the expiration of the current N30,000 wage on April 18.
The FG had earlier in a meeting this week with the Labour proposed N54,000 as against its previous N48,000 offer.
According to information gathered by NPO Reports, the meeting was held behind closed doors in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Organised Labour had on Tuesday given the Federal Government up till the end of May to conclude negotiations for a new minimum wage.
However, before today’s meeting, the Organised Labour comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, walked out on the Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage following the proposed N48,000 as minimum wage by the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, the National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, insisted on N615,000 minimum wage, arguing that the amount was arrived at after an analysis of the current economic situation and the needs of an average Nigerian family of six.
