the NBA wishes to state unequivocally that Kano is safe and ready to host the NBA Section on Legal Practice (SLP) conference
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, has affirmed that Kano State is safe to host the NBA Section on Legal Practice (SLP) conference.
NPO reports that there is an ongoing power tussle of the throne in the ancient city following the dethronement of the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, Sunday.
Acknowledging the crisis, the NBA said:
“The leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) acknowledges the fact that Kano has been in the news over the revered traditional position of the Emir of Kano.
“This situation not withstanding , the NBA wishes to state unequivocally that Kano is safe and ready to host the NBA Section on Legal Practice (SLP) conference.”
According to the NBA, it has received assurances from the Kano State Government and the relevant law enforcement agencies in this regard.
This was confirmed by the Chairmen of Kano, Ungoggo and Dutse Branches of the NBA, Mr Sagir Sulieman Gezawa, Muhammed Jibrin and Mustapha Kashim respectively, several members of these Branches, and Mr Aminu Sani Gadanya, mni, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the NBA-SLP Conference.
To this end, the NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN urges all intending conferees of the NBA-SLP Conference to continue with their plans to attend a conference that promises to be impactful and engaging.
