President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday cracked ribs Wednesday night as he made jokes out of his fall at the parade ground earlier in the day.
Tinubu was speaking at the Democracy Day Dinner held in Abuja Wednesday evening.
He said as a traditional man that he is, prostrating is not strange to him. He said what he did was to dobale (prostrate) for Nigerian democracy.
He said what happened at the Parade ground was his own way of prostrating in the traditional way.
The president had missed his steps while attempting to mount the parade van falling in the process.
He was subsequently helped up again by his aides before the commencement of the inspection of parade grounds.
He said Democracy Day is worth falling.
“Earlier this morning, I had a swagger. I did my dobale, for Democracy Day” he said at the dinner.
The president’s comment elicited a loud applause.
Speaking about the potential of the country, Tinubu said that “Nigeria is greater than all of us and that its unity cannot be traded for anything.”
“Nigeria is blessed. Our complexity, yes! But it’s the best way to success.”
The President said though the anniversary is dubbed a low key one, “we still have to celebrate it.”
At the event were his vice, Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and other members of the Federal Executive Council.
Also there were some leaders of the ruling party and captains of industry.
