- Hours of downpour in Lagos on Wednesday have left thousands of motorists stranded. The downpour which started at about 5:30am Wednesday morning, has seen many major routes flooded with many broken down vehicles.
- Lagos state government, through its Commissioner for the Environment and Water sanitation, confirmed the spread of the flood in major parts of the state. Tokunbo Wahab had written through his X handle, to explain the flood at the Iyana Oworo area, “The Olopo Meji inward 3rd Mainland situation is a flash flood that is due to the high intensity of the rain, long duration rain coupled with high tidal lagoon level at the moment. Be rest assured it would go away in about 1-2hour. As the high tidal level of the lagoon goes down, the rain, storm water will be able to discharge into the lagoon.”
- Commuters in Ikeja said the Oba Akran area near the Guiness Nigeria was also flooded. The Nigeria Meteorogical Centre had warned that some states of the federation would come under heavy flooding as the year progressed.
The flood has also created a massive traffic congestion in many parts of the state. For instance, the flood in the Gbagada, Iyana Oworo area had caused the traffic congestion to extend towards Alapere area. An X user with the handle @firdous had tweeted the flooded situation at Gbagada showing many people stranded.
