As Edo Dep Governor Dumps PDP
By Kamil Opeyemi
Former Governor of Edo state, Adam Oshiomhole, on Saturday received the deputy governor of the state, Phillips Shaibu back into the All Progressive Congress.
In a message posted on his X handle, Shaibu described Oshiomhole and himself as “Father and Son!” quoting Oshiomhole in the post “The Ogbane of yesterday becomes the ofonee of today.”
Shaibu’s defection was made public with other prominent members of the Dan Orbih-led Legacy Group of the PDP during the inauguration of the APC Campaign Council in Benin City.
He said, “On behalf of the Legacy Group, I announce our movement to the APC. We have come to add value to the party.
“It is time to take back our state. We will not talk too much because action will speak for us. We are not afraid, we are ready to move forward.
“We the homebody are ready to take our state back through the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.
“We are not trouble makers but if it comes, we will use it to rub our body and we move on.”
After his statement, Shaibu knelt down before Oshiomhole causing many to applaud his action.
NPO Reports that the court had on Wednesday reinstated Shaibu to his position saying his impeachment was illegal.
The court had equally directed that all his entitlements be given to him including his security aides.
Shaibu, known to be one of the loyalists of Oshiomhole, had fallen out with the former Edo governor backing Godwin Obaseki for a second term in office.
Shaibu and Obaseki have however also fallen apart over the desire of Shaibu to contest for the governorship seat of the state.
