Some traditionalists believed to be those of the Oro adherents have stormed some streets of Imota in Lagos apparently to ward off anti-government protests.
Imota is a district in Ikorodu, Lagos State. They are mostly Ijebu-speaking people.
There have been talks that as part of measures to halt angry Nigerians from protesting anti-government protests, traditionalists had been engaged to create panic among potential participants to make the protest impossible.
A video of the procession of the traditionalists which was shared online on Sunday showed them moving in a group of about 60 some of them clad in traditional attires.
Some of them were rendering incantations suggesting invoking curses on whoever seeks to cause crisis in the country.
The video was shared by one Pst Okezie, a known All Progressive Congress loyalist.
See the post below:
The video surfaced amidst rising tension over the planned nationwide protests over hunger in the country.
The Federal Government has demanded for calm saying protests could turn bloody.
Just on Sunday a video appeared where the daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Mujidat Folasade Ojo, declared there must be no protests in Lagos.
She said the aim of the protest is to cause mayhem and damage to public infrastructure.
State governments have been engaging different groups to stave off the protests.
