A 35 year old woman identified as Bello Motunrayo Folu has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with illict drugs concealed in Cerelac Baby food.
The agency made this known in a statement issued earlier today with a post on their official X handle where the culprit was paraded with 36 parcels of Cannabis.
According to the law enforcement agency, the consignments were concealed in tins of Cerelac baby food and clothes set to be sent to the United States and United Kingdom.
The consignments would, however, be intercepted by officials of the agency at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
“Multiple consignments of illicit drugs concealed in tins of Cerelac baby food and cloths going to the United States and United Kingdom have been intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, and a courier firm in Lagos.
“No less than 36 parcels of a strong strain of cannabis concealed in six cartons of tins of branded Nestle Cerelac baby food, with six containers in each package were recovered at the SAHCOL export shed of Lagos airport on Wednesday 31st July 2024. The psychotropic substance has a total weight of 18.50 kilograms.” The statement read.
Also arrested in connection to the consignments is a freight agent, Salaudeen Suliat Abiola, who presented the consignments for export to the UK.
Describing how the illicit drugs were packed in the baby food, NDLEA disclosed that the factory-sleaed tins were tampered from the bottom, giving room for the parcels which were covered with loose quantity of the infant cereal meal.
