No fewer than 16 persons have been confirmed dead in a road accident which occured along Lagos-Ibadan expressway recently today.
The casualties, as confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), were involved in a multiple crash at Ojoo-Iwo Road axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
While 17 other people reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries, FRSC Oyo State Sector Command’s Spokesperson, Mayowa Odewo, disclosed that only two people were injury-free out of the 35 persons involved in the accident.
He, however, disclosed the cause of the accident which involved four vehicles- a Mack Truck marked AKM 548 ZY, Nissan Commercial bus- MUB 20 LG, Nissan Micra taxi- BDJ 520 YC, and a private Honda Accord SUV- KRD 707 ER.
The Mack Truck, according Odewo, developed brake failure, resulting to the collision with the three other vehicles.
While the injured victims have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the vehicles involved in the accident were taken to Irepodun Police Station along Agboo- Ojoo road.
