The Nigeria Police Force are set to investigate an alleged rape case involving a 14 year-old girl in Lagos.
The incident, which reportedly occured at Alakuko area of Lagos, saw the yet-to-be identified girl raped by her landlord’s son leaving the girl bleeding as seen in a now viral video on X.
The incident, has however, caught the attention of the Nigerian Police Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, who have charged the Lagos Police Command to look into the case.
While condemning the act in a post on his official X handle, Adejobi referred to the Lagos Police Command and the state’s PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, to provide him a proper brief on the case.
“The act is not only criminal, it’s barbaric and evil. We need to work together to tackle the menace collectively.
“We receive such cases in large numbers despite all the campaigns. So we need to be more serious in fighting against raoe and other related offences.
“The family or whoever who knows the young girl, victim, to reach out to me on my line 08037168147. Drop sms pls. We need to take up this matter. @BenHundeyin, @LagosPoliceNG, brief me on this case wie. Thanks” Adejobi wrote.
Meanwhile, prior to this, Benjamin Hundeyin, had been subjected to series of tagging by concerned netizens ever since the viral video was uploaded on social media.
In response , the Lagos PPRO had urged the victim’s family to file an official report at the nearest Police Station necessary for the Force to take action.
“I have been tagged a lot to this post. I have equally called the DPO Alakuko repeatedly to get an update. The only update I have been getting is, ‘No report of such has been made.’
“Please, do well to report at the nearest police station or provide the address to enable the DPO go verify this report and take necessary steps.” He had posted.
